The Idea

The idea around this harness is very interesting. It’s all about providing the already excellent Rimowa suitcases with more comfort and additional functions. Rimowa produces luggage of the highest quality, generally made of aluminium, which offers, in an irreproachable design, a low weight and unrivalled resistance. The Comfort is given by the fact of having, around the suitcase, a series of Zippered compartments (pockets) that allow immediate access to its contents (laptop, tablet, phone, etc…), without having to open the suitcase and giving freedom in our hands while the “vest” is adjusted in the suitcase.

The additional functions offered by this harness are also very practical. On the one hand, by adjusting the “vest” to the suitcase we are already exercising the same function that a strap would perform to ensure the closure of our suitcase. On the other hand, cleverly placed on top of the harness, they are Two handles that are going to allow us to carry it as if in one Tote Bag because, in its Interior compartments, there is a Magnetic System that will hold the two sides of the harness together on their backs.

Construction

Made of nylon, it has 2 sides with 4 exquisitely stitched pockets . Each pocket has a high-quality zipper for access. The inside of the pockets is made of 100% polyester. The straps to adjust the vest to the suitcase are extra-resistant and the top handles are very pleasant to the touch.

Rimowa began its life as a family business in 1898 in Cologne (Köln) under the name Koffermanufaktur. The first suitcases that came out of his factory were made of resistant wood, looking for a lightweight construction and better stability. In 1900 , Paul Morszeck was left as sole director, separated from his founding partner Heinrich Görtz.

In 1937, created by the founder’s son (Richard Morszec) they manufactured the first aluminum trunk. RIMOWA comes from the abbreviation of its name. 1950 was the birth year of its iconic slotted aluminum design. Inspired by the golden age of aviation, they added distinctive grooves to their aluminum cases.

In 1970, the Tropicana design would be the first to include protection for sensitive filming, photography, and reportage equipment, protecting them from tropical humidity or cold.Arctic Region. In 2000, at the turn of the century, they manufactured the first polycarbonate luggage (very resistant to extreme temperatures, lightweight and durable). In 2001, the patented 8-wheel Multiwheel system features 360° swivel.

2012 marked the 75th anniversary of the aluminium suitcase, and 2018 marked the company’s 120th anniversary.

Today, Rimowa is considered a world leader in the manufacture of luxury luggage. Belonging to the LVMH group of companies, it is a fully consolidated company and the undisputed leader in its sector.
