Premiered in 1994 , it is one of Cirque du Soleil’s most beloved shows. It has captivated more than 14 million viewers in 255 cities in 40 countries. To celebrate its 25th Anniversary , it has once again been performed with a different perspective.

A renewed score with new arrangements that mix electronic and rock sounds, with acoustic and orchestral elements synchronized with the acrobatics. All wrapped in a delicate snowfall that becomes a collage of balance, high-flying acrobatics and intoxicating music. A wonderful, surprising and endearing memory.

History of Cirque du Soleil

In 1980, a group of artists founded by Gilles Ste-Croix brought their talents to the streets of Baie-Saint-Paul, a charming village on the banks of the river St. Laurent near Quebec. Known to the public as Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul (the stilt walkers of Baie-Saint-Paul), this group would form the nucleus that would become Cirque du Soleil.

They had an eclectic show, where jugglers, dancers, fire-eaters and musicians stood out. Little did they know that these would be the beginnings of something magical, exciting, and revolutionary on a global scale.

Guy Laliberté, a member of Les Échassiers, launched the show outside of his hometown. By 1984, the show had evolved and was ready to delight fans outside of its hometown.That year, to commemorate the 450th anniversary of Jacque Cartier’s discovery of Canada, Laliberté began a tour of the province.

It offered a unique vision of circus arts: animal-free, striking, dramatic, beautiful, and thoughtful. The street performers had outrageous costumes, magical lighting, and original music. He named it Cirque du Soleil because, in his own words, “The sun symbolizes youth, energy, and strength.”

Cirque du Soleil first caused an international sensation in 1987, on their first U.S. tour. “We Reinvent the Circus“. He surprised Los Angeles Festival fans and the media with his unique approach to the circus. A detailed set design, a stage with chairs on all sides and dynamic interaction. After visiting other cities (San Diego, Santa Monica, etc…) he made the leap to Europe in 1990.

In 1993, “Mystere” became Cirque du Soleil’s first permanent show. Presented in Las Vegas, it continues to fill the theater to this day.In the following years it expanded its radius of action to Asia, Europe and South America. Today, Cirque du Soleil continues to remove barriers and impress its fans (old and new) around the world.

The artists that make up Cirque du Soleil (1,300 from 55 countries), practice sports disciplines such as rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics, urban acrobatics, dance, music, theater and street art. The multifacet allows for a unique artistic environment, something that will be remembered for a lifetime.
