Saguaro coat rack, introduction

Scientifically named Carnegiea gigantea, the Saguaro Cactus is also known as the Giant Cactus. It is a plant native to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, it can grow to be more than 10 m. high and its arms grow parallel to the trunk. Its spines can measure up to 7 cm.

This coat rack, designed by Stefano Giovannoni for Qeeboo , reflects with some fidelity (yes, without thorns) the giant cactus of the Sonoran desert. Made with solution-dyed recycled polyethylene, it has 3 arms and a circular metal base lacquered in powder. It is available in 5 colors: Yellow, Violet Blue, Fuchsia, Ivory and Green.

There is an outdoor version with polyethylene that is more resistant to atmospheric agents. The dimensions of this extraordinary coat rack are: 46 x 48.5 x 196 cms. Weight: 20 Kg.

Price: €800.00 (inside), €900.00 (outside)

Information

Description

Saguaro is a coat rack that resembles the figure of a giant Cactus. Made of solution-dyed recycled polyethylene, it has 3 arms and a circular metal base (stainless steel in the outdoor version) that gives it stability. For the outdoor version, it is advisable to fix the circular base to the ground with deep nails.

Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, it is one of the several designs he has made for the firm Qeeboo, and as usual in the Italian designer, he has an innate facility to connect his designs with the public, as is the case of this already famous coat rack.

Feedback

The relationship that many designers have with the elements of nature is curious. In this case, Giovannoni has reproduced a Saguaro Cactus to make a coat rack and he has been completely right.

Stefano Giovannoni, as he has already shown on other occasions, likes to work with plastic materials, to which he provides organic and simple shapes until his creations become 100% attractive, colourful and useful collector’s pieces . As if it were a game and, with a certain childish touch, it recreates pieces that provoke admiration and a certain smile. Her designs have a certain “mischief” that is appreciated like fresh air.
