The The Augusta Masters<\/b> is one of the four major<\/strong> tournaments<\/a> <\/i>on the men’s golf<\/a> calendar and the first to be held every year since 1934<\/strong>. The final round of the tournament is usually held on the second Sunday in April<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Unlike the rest of the majors<\/strong>, the Augusta Masters<\/strong> has a fixed venue, the Augusta National Golf Club<\/a>, a private golf club located in Augusta<\/strong>, Georgia<\/strong>, United States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is part of the PGA Tour<\/a> and, among its advantages, the winner of this prestigious tournament is invited for life<\/strong> to celebrate it and also the other 3 major tournaments<\/strong> for the next 5 years<\/strong>. He also receives an invitation to play in The Players<\/a> tournament for the next five years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The most significant prize of the Masters at Augusta<\/strong> is not the economic one, but the coveted green jacket<\/strong> that identifies him as a member of the club. In addition, he receives a Gold Medal<\/strong> and his name engraved on the Masters Trophy<\/strong>. This trophy represents the club’s home house<\/strong>, was first awarded in 1963<\/strong> and remains<\/strong> in the clubhouse. Since 1993<\/strong> , a replica<\/strong> has been given to the winner. The finalist (2nd)<\/strong> receives a silver medal<\/strong> and, since 1978<\/strong>, a silver tray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

The origin of Augusta National Golf Club <\/strong>is due to the renowned golfer Bobby Jones<\/strong>, who wanted to build a golf course after his retirement. On the advice of Clifford Roberts <\/strong>(later president of the club), they found a plot of land in Augusta<\/strong>, Georgia.<\/strong> It was inaugurated and opened to the public in January 1933.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout its history, 56 players<\/strong> have won the coveted green jacket<\/strong>. The winner of the Augusta Masters<\/strong> keeps it for a full year<\/strong> and returns it in the next edition<\/strong> of the tournament. Tradition also dictates that the winner of the previous edition will impose the jacket on the winner of the current edition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

American players (39)<\/strong> have won the most titles (64),<\/strong> Spanish players (4)<\/strong> have won 6 titles<\/strong> and South African<\/strong> players have won five<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Only 18 players<\/strong> have managed to win more than once<\/strong>, with the legendary Jack Nicklaus<\/a> being the only player to have won 6 titles<\/strong>. Tiger Woods<\/strong> (5), Nick Faldo<\/strong> (3) and Bernhard Langer<\/strong> (2) are outstanding figures of golf in this mythical tournament. The Spanish players<\/strong> have won the following titles: Severiano Ballesteros<\/strong> (2), Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Olaz\u00e1bal<\/strong> (2), Segio Garc\u00eda<\/strong> (1) and John Rahm<\/strong> (1).<\/p>\n
