With its unforgettable soundtrack<\/strong>, thrilling acrobatics, surreal costumes, vibrant sets, and playful humor, Alegria<\/strong> unfolds a moving immersive experience infused with a joyful magical feel, a Cirque du Soleil-style<\/strong> show. Premiered in 1994<\/strong> , it is one of Cirque du Soleil’s<\/strong> most beloved shows. It has captivated more than 14 million viewers<\/strong> in 255 cities<\/strong> in 40 countries<\/strong>. To celebrate its 25th Anniversary<\/strong> , it has once again been performed with a different perspective.<\/p>\n

A renewed score<\/strong> with new arrangements that mix electronic and rock sounds<\/strong>, with acoustic and orchestral<\/strong> elements<\/strong> synchronized with the acrobatics. All wrapped in a delicate snowfall that becomes a collage of balance<\/strong>, high-flying acrobatics<\/strong> and intoxicating music<\/strong>. History of Cirque du Soleil<\/h2>\n

In 1980<\/strong>, a group of artists founded by Gilles Ste-Croix<\/a> brought their talents to the streets of Baie-Saint-Paul<\/strong>, a charming village on the banks of the river St. Laurent<\/strong> near Quebec<\/strong>. Known to the public as Les \u00c9chassiers<\/strong> de Baie-Saint-Paul<\/strong> (the stilt walkers of Baie-Saint-Paul), this group would form the nucleus that would become Cirque du Soleil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They had an eclectic show, where jugglers<\/strong>, dancers<\/strong>, fire-eaters<\/strong> and musicians<\/strong> stood out. Little did they know that these would be the beginnings of something magical, exciting, and revolutionary on a global scale.<\/p>\n

Guy Lalibert\u00e9<\/strong>, a member of Les \u00c9chassiers<\/strong>, launched the show outside of his hometown. By 1984<\/strong>, the show had evolved and was ready to delight fans outside of its hometown<\/strong>.That year, to commemorate the 450th anniversary<\/strong> of Jacque Cartier’s<\/strong> discovery of Canada<\/strong>, Lalibert\u00e9<\/strong> began a tour of the province.<\/p>\n

It offered a unique vision of circus arts<\/strong>: animal-free<\/strong>, striking<\/strong>, dramatic<\/strong>, beautiful<\/strong>, and thoughtful<\/strong>. The street performers had outrageous costumes, magical lighting, and original music<\/strong>. He named it Cirque du Soleil<\/strong> because, in his own words, “The sun symbolizes youth, energy, and strength.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Cirque du Soleil<\/strong> first caused an international sensation in 1987<\/strong>, on their first U.S. tour.<\/strong> “We Reinvent the Circus<\/strong>“. He surprised Los Angeles Festival<\/strong> fans and the media with his unique approach<\/strong> to the circus. A detailed set design, a stage with chairs on all sides<\/strong> and dynamic interaction<\/strong>. After visiting other cities (San Diego, Santa Monica, etc…) he made the leap to Europe<\/strong> in 1990<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 1993<\/strong>, “Mystere”<\/strong> became Cirque du Soleil’s<\/strong> first permanent show<\/strong>. Presented in Las Vegas<\/strong>, it continues to fill the theater to this day.In the following years it expanded its radius of action to Asia<\/strong>, Europe<\/strong> and South America<\/strong>. Today, Cirque du Soleil<\/strong> continues to remove barriers<\/strong> and impress its fans<\/strong> (old and new) around the world.<\/p>\n

Creative process<\/h2>\n

Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Bouchard<\/strong>, Creative Director<\/strong> and Creative Guide<\/strong>: “Creativity is the ideal that defines us at Cirque du Soleil<\/strong><\/em>.” At the center of the equation of this cast of artists is the word “dream”,<\/strong> it is the fundamental concept<\/strong> of their philosophy. To take the adventure further<\/strong>, believing in and enhancing its engine: the artists<\/strong>. Freedom of thought and creativity<\/strong> are granted to turn dreams into reality.<\/p>\n

The artists that make up Cirque du Soleil<\/strong> (1,300 from 55 countries), practice sports disciplines such as rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics<\/strong>, urban acrobatics<\/strong>, dance<\/strong>, music<\/strong>, theater<\/strong> and street art<\/strong>. The multifacet<\/strong> allows for a unique artistic environment<\/strong>, something that will be remembered for a lifetime.<\/p>\n
