David Gilmour<\/strong>, former guitarist of the British group Pink Floyd<\/a>, offers a series of 6 concerts<\/a><\/strong> in London<\/strong>, at the mythical Royal Albert Hall (October 9\/15),<\/strong> for the presentation of his new album<\/strong> “Luck and Strange” <\/strong><\/em>as part of his 2024<\/strong> tour.<\/p>\n “Luck and Strange”<\/strong> was recorded over five months in Brighton<\/strong> and London<\/strong> and is David<\/strong> Gilmour’s<\/strong> first album of new material in nine years. The album includes eight new tracks along with a beautiful reinterpretation of ‘Between Two Points’<\/strong><\/em> by The Montgolfier Brothers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It is a unique opportunity<\/strong> to see live one of the idols of the guitar<\/strong>, author of such memorable solos as “Comfortably Numb” <\/strong>and co-author, together with Roger Waters<\/a>, of such emblematic songs as “Wish you were here”.<\/strong><\/em> Without a doubt, one of the best concerts to be held in Europe<\/strong> in 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n David Jon Gilmour<\/strong> (born <\/b>6 March 1946 in Cambridge, England<\/strong>) is an English musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for having been the songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd<\/strong>, which he joined shortly before Syd Barrett’s<\/a> departure in 1968<\/strong>.<\/p>\n His father, Douglas Gilmour<\/strong>, a professor at Cambirdge University<\/strong>, was an expert in zoology, and his mother, Sylvia<\/strong>, was an editor at the BBC<\/strong>. They encouraged him to become interested in music.<\/p>\n In 1957<\/strong> he attended the Perse School<\/strong> in Cambridge<\/strong>, where he met his future companions: guitarist Syd Barrett<\/strong> and bassist Roger Waters<\/strong>. In late 1962<\/strong> he joined the blues rock band “Jokers Wild”,<\/strong><\/em> recording an album and a single (15 copies). In August<\/strong> 1965<\/strong> he traveled to Spain<\/strong> and France<\/strong> with Barret<\/strong> and other friends to raise some money by performing Beatles<\/strong> songs in streets and bars.<\/p>\n In 1967<\/strong>, Gilmour<\/strong> toured France<\/strong> with Rick Wills<\/strong> and Willie Wilson<\/strong> (members of Jokers Wild<\/strong>) and performed under the name Flowers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It was in 1967<\/strong> when Pink Floyd<\/strong> drummer Nick Mason<\/a> offered him to join the band to replace the erratic Syd Barret<\/strong>. The band intended to continue with Barrett<\/strong> as composer. In March 1968<\/strong>, Syd<\/strong> agreed to leave the band as his behavior was totally inappropriate.<\/p>\n Upon his departure, Gilmour<\/strong> became the lead singer, sharing the duties with Roger Waters<\/strong> and Richard Wright<\/a>, beginning the era of progressive rock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The success of the albums The Dark Side of the Moon<\/strong><\/em> and Wish You Were Here <\/strong><\/em>led Waters<\/strong> to take control of the band, composing and singing most of the content on the following albums: Animals<\/strong><\/em> and The Wall<\/strong><\/em>. Wright<\/strong> was fired at the The Wall<\/strong> and the relationship between David<\/strong> and Roger<\/strong> deteriorated during the recording of the film The Wall<\/strong> and the recording of the album The Final Cut<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n The Wall’s<\/strong> last live performance was on June 17, 1981<\/strong> in London<\/strong>, being Pink Floyd’s<\/strong> last appearance with Roger Waters<\/strong> in nearly 25 years<\/strong>. On July 2, 2005<\/strong>, Pink Floyd<\/strong> participated in its entirety on Live 8<\/a>.<\/p>\n Pink Floyd<\/strong>, already under the control of the band by David Gilmour<\/strong>, released A Momentary Lapse of Reason<\/strong><\/em> in 1987 and in 1994<\/strong>, The Division Bell.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n David Gilmour<\/strong> released his first solo album, “David Gilmour”<\/strong><\/em> in 1978<\/strong>. In 1905 1984<\/strong> published “About Face”. <\/strong>Until 2006<\/strong> he would not lock himself in the studio again and record In 1996<\/strong> was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. <\/strong>Named Commander of the Order of the British Empire<\/strong> in 2003<\/strong>, he is number 14 on Rolling Stone<\/a> magazine’s list of the 100 best guitarists<\/strong>.
