<\/span><\/h2>\nDocumentary encyclobjects: 05<\/strong> design and customization<\/strong> we have already commented on a few occasions. The idea<\/strong> that was going around in my head was the magazine Orologi. <\/strong>In that magazine, the protagonist was not the design<\/strong> (by the way, minimal, but super elegant<\/strong>), it<\/strong> was the watches, the images. <\/strong>All the colour<\/strong>, the dynamism<\/strong>, the seduction<\/strong>…, everything was in the images<\/strong>, they were the real protagonists<\/strong> of the magazine. They were images on a blank sheet of paper<\/strong> with clear, professional and suggestive text<\/strong>.<\/p>\nBut of course, Orologi<\/strong> only presents watches, encyclobjects.com<\/strong> plays on a bigger<\/strong> field, with more and different objects<\/strong>, more colors<\/strong>, more details, more information and interaction… <\/strong>How to design and present all this content on a continent in an orderly<\/strong>, complete<\/strong>, simple<\/strong> and suggestive<\/strong> way? \u00bf<\/strong>Simple? I don’t know.<\/p>\nI know that most things are already made up<\/strong>, so observation was my best alternative, so I started snooping through publications<\/strong> (on paper and on the internet) and came to a conclusion that confirmed my suspicions. If the protagonist is the product<\/strong>, the image<\/strong>, the news<\/strong>, let’s leave it all the prominence and only highlight our logo<\/strong> as a brand image.<\/p>\n\n- \n
<\/span>Logo & Color Palette<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nEncyclobjects is a made-up acronym<\/strong>. The RAE Dictionary<\/strong> defines acronym<\/strong>: 2. m. A word formed by the union of elements of two or more words, constituted by the beginning of the first and the end of the last, or frequently, by other combinations. <\/em>The fact is that it “sounds”<\/em> like an encyclopedia of objects<\/strong>, which is exactly what you want to convey.<\/strong> What happens, which in the end, is “what happens to me”,<\/em> is that I like<\/strong> complications<\/strong> and, in English<\/strong>, it seemed more international<\/strong> to me.<\/p>\nAs the domain is encyclobjects.com<\/strong>, for the logo I thought it was appropriate to continue with the name encyclobjects<\/strong>, since it is, first,<\/strong> about ratifying the acronym<\/strong> (encyclopedia of objects), and second<\/strong>, making encyclobjects<\/strong> sound like a short<\/strong> and easy to remember<\/strong> word with the sum of words encyclopedia + objects<\/strong>. This way I avoided searching for an object<\/strong>, or other image\/shape\/icon<\/strong> that evoked an encyclopedia of objects.<\/p>\nThe nexus<\/strong>, the o<\/strong>, divides the acronym<\/strong> into 2 parts with the same number of letters (encycl or bjects), <\/strong>curious isn’t it? For the logo I would have to look for something unique<\/strong> for that letter “o”. <\/strong>At first I thought of [<\/span>encyclor<\/span>bjects],<\/span><\/span><\/span> and then <\/strong>searching, searching… (logically in royalty-free images), I found an orange <\/strong>billiard ball<\/strong> with a power symbol<\/strong> on it. With a few tweaks<\/strong> I put it in the center, a little bigger<\/strong> “et voil\u00e0”, the logo created.<\/p>\nFor the Favicon<\/strong> (thumbnail of the logo that appears in browser tabs), I removed the text leaving only the brackets<\/strong> that wrap around the billiard ball with the power symbol<\/strong>. In this way, the digital nature<\/strong> of the magazine was further emphasized.<\/p>\nWith the logo already designed, I decided on a more intense color palette <\/strong>for the header, <\/strong>very marked by the navy blue<\/strong> color that would be the background of the main menu<\/strong> and the logo<\/strong>. And another basically neutral <\/strong>color palette <\/strong>for content, menus, and statements. <\/strong>This second palette has had very slight modifications <\/strong>(some transparencies) compared to the one that comes standard in Extra<\/strong> (it is very difficult to improve the unbeatable).<\/p>\nHere is the coding of the color palettes:<\/p>\n
