Pauline Dassler<\/strong>. While he helped his mother in the laundry, it would be his father, a worker in a shoe company, who would introduce him to the trade of shoemaker. <\/p>\nIn 1913<\/strong>, “Adi”<\/strong> (affectionate nickname of his friends) finished high school and began as an apprentice baker. Adi <\/strong>was, along with his friend Fritz Zehlein<\/strong>, very fond of athletics, football, boxing, javelin, hockey and also ski sports.<\/p>\nIn June 1918<\/strong> he was drafted into the German army where he served until October 1919<\/strong>. Before, he had already delved into an idea: if an athlete used footwear optimized<\/strong> for his sport, he would undoubtedly improve his performance and his marks<\/strong>. The story of Adidas<\/strong> begins in Herzogenaurach<\/a>, a town in Bavaria<\/strong>, Germany<\/strong>. On 1 July 1924<\/strong>, Adolf Dassler<\/strong> and his brother Rudolf<\/strong> registered the Gebr\u00fcder Dassler Schuhfabrik<\/strong> (Dassler Brothers’ Shoe Factory). Adi<\/strong> was in charge of technical development while Rudolf<\/strong> would be in charge of marketing and sales.<\/p>\nIn 1928<\/strong> the Olympic Games<\/strong> were held in Amsterdam. Adi <\/strong>He was there willing to show that athletes could improve their marks with the right shoes<\/strong>. Adi<\/strong> gave German long-distance runner Lina Radke<\/strong> a pair of 6-spike athletics shoes<\/strong> developed by him. With the Dassler shoes<\/strong>, Lina<\/strong> won the race and with 2’16″8\/10<\/strong> she set a new world record. <\/p>\nIt would be in 1932<\/strong> when Adi<\/strong>, at the Technical School of Footwear in Pirmasens<\/strong>, where he perfected his techniques for footwear, would meet K\u00e4the Martz<\/strong> whom he would marry on March 17, 1934<\/strong>.<\/p>\nIn 1936<\/strong>, the Olympic Games<\/strong> in Berlin<\/strong> would be the best showcase for Dassler shoes<\/strong>. Adi<\/strong> equipped many athletes, most notably Jesse Owens<\/a>, who won four gold medals<\/strong>.
