humbucker<\/a>“, which would revolutionize the sound of the electric guitar.<\/p>\nIn 1960<\/strong> the drop in sales led to the reinvention of the Les Paul<\/strong>, looking for lightness in the body<\/strong> (maple\/mahogany), cost savings<\/strong> and better access to high frets. <\/strong>It was simplified, reducing the thickness<\/strong> and eliminating the maple top<\/strong>, making a very slender body<\/strong> with double cutaway<\/strong>. (Something similar had already been done in 1959<\/strong> with the double-cutaway Les Paul Junior<\/strong> .)
